Description: 
“The Birdhouse,” is inspired by the Illuminated Manuscript gold embellished books created by the Western European monks of the early Renaissance period. These illustrious books used natural pigments from nature and the inner contents of an egg as it binder to hand make their artisan paints. The Imagery within their pages were so visually descriptive because a large majority of the population were unable to read. These manuscripts recorded both history and the spiritual aspects of their lives. 
The Magic Realism narrative symbolizes Earth’s unique environmental concerns. This chaotic yet calm floral still life yearns for its species to thrive. The Monarch is largely affected by wildfires in California They represent the brave firefighters who battled this issue yearly. This is a story that sends a SOS messages to all who care to listen.
Within this chaos there is also a quite spiritual beauty with messages of hope! Throughout, the viewer can follow the transformational  hummingbirds that are often found in my work. The hummingbird breaking through as a lost loved one in Mayan culture tale, returns over a rainbow bridge to deliver a message of comfort to those left behind . Another hummingbird mother tends to her children in their nest as a Fiery Throated hummingbird illuminates a large lotus flower to bring conservational awareness to the universe . Every element is meaningfully placed to represent life as we know it in the artistry of a fantastical birdhouse landscape.
Signature Symbolic Elements: There are two elements that are often part of my narratives. The bubbles are aerodynamic element like the birds and reflect back the story within their mirrored surfaces. A personal signature is that of marbles. My father was an avid antique marble collector.  I lost him at the age of 16 and marbles are there to honor his memory. They are both nostalgic and yet deeply meaningful to my own personal history.
